Track Your Business Goals Progress With This FREE Tool

How Can I Keep Track Of My Business Goals and Progress?
For a business to succeed, they need to have some measurable goals. They need to grow, to improve or expand, so they can keep moving forward.
But how do you know if your business is on track to complete a goal? How do you know if you are falling behind or making progress?
One of the best ways to keep track of these goals or objectives is by using a chart. But creating charts can sometimes be A LOT of work, especially if you want to show both the goal (purpose) and the current progress?
You can easily generate any charts you want in Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau and other ‘business intelligence’ tools, if you have the time and desire to do so.
But because we LOVE to make things as easy as possible for small businesses to succeed and be awesome, I thought I would make this neat little chart for you to use, no hard work required.
The chart below can be edited and used to keep track of ANY business goal you set- from sales goals to social media goals!
Since I have already made this chart for you as a template, all you have to do is download it and save a copy to your Drive or computer! Impressive, I know, right!?

This progress tracker is designed to help provide a visual of your year goal.
This chart can also be used to measure any key performance indicator (KPI) inside your business. (That’s a smart business term- KPI’s are great ways to define and analyze your goals and progress.)
I have designed this particular chart to be simple to use and simple to see your progress. (You can always get more elaborate if you want to make changes later.)
The way this tool works is easy and straightforward.
The chart provides a guideline of where you should be, month by month. This way, you can see if you are on target to complete your goal, behind or even ahead.
The vertical bars display your current progress. The goal is to be above the line. If your measurement is above the line you are on track. If it is below the line, you are off track.
To get started, you just need to decide which measurement you want to track for the year.
Some examples are:
-
Followers
-
Likes
-
Video Views
-
Subscribers
- Page Views
-
Sales
-
Revenue
-
Units Sold
Okay, so take a second and download the file below. Save a copy to your computer and open it up.
I’m going to walk you through the process of tracking your first goal!
(You can also jump down and see the video of this walkthrough here.)
Once you get the file open, type the goal name into the box labeled ‘Measurement.’ This is what goal you are trying to keep track of.
Next, you want is to input your goal for the end of the year. (This needs to be a number value.) Type that number into the next box.
When choosing your end-of-year goal metric, pick a realistic one. You want to set yourself up for MAXIMUM success by setting attainable goals, to keep from discouraging yourself.
Once you decide on your metric (i.e. the goal you want to track), you will want to type in the total values for each month.
For instance, if you are monitoring followers, you would input your total followers at the end of each month.
This will allow you to clearly see how far away you are from accomplishing your goal.
And if you need to adjust your goal, you can just change the values, and the chart will update automatically.
Having good goals can make or break a business. Having good goals but not tracking them can make or break a business.
This is how a company measures its success and also how they spot potential problems.
These charts can be great for understanding how your strategic business goals are doing in real-time. These charts can also help identify problem areas quickly, getting you
back on track to achieving business success.
Okay, I think you get the point. So without further ado, you can check out the video walkthrough of how to use the chart download.
In the example I use in the video, our goal is to get 6000 followers on LinkedIn by the end of the year. Within 2 minutes, we will have measurable goals to hit each month. This will let us be able to see if we stay on target as the year progresses.
Here is a quick video demonstrating how to use this chart:
Conclusion
This progress tracker is perfect for small businesses, entrepreneurs, or anyone with a goal, really. If you’re looking for a quick chart to keep track of your strategic goal, with montly progress, then this chart is for you.
I hope you enjoy using it and that it brings you one step closer to accomplishing your amazing business dreams.
P.S. – Do not forget to MAKE A COPY on your Drive!! If not, it will stay on OUR server, and everyone will be able to see your inputs.
